Professional baseball giants have announced that they will not sign a contract with 35-year-old veteran pitcher Shun Yamaguchi, who also played in the major leagues, next season.

The 35-year-old pitcher Yamaguchi joined Yokohama at the time in the first round of the high school draft in 2006 and was active as a suppressor and starting pitcher, and in the off-season of 2016, he transferred from DeNA to the giant as a free agent.



In 2019, his third year with the Giants, he won titles in three pitching categories, including the most wins, and transferred to the Blue Jays in the major leagues in the posting system off that year. He returned to the Giants in the middle of the season.



He only pitched one game this season as a middleman in April, and has a career record of 443 games with a 66-66-112 save point ERA of 3.36.



The Giants announced on the 25th that they would not sign a contract with Yamaguchi for next season.



According to baseball officials, Yamaguchi hopes to continue his career and is looking for opportunities to play for other teams.



He also announced that he will not be signing 25-year-old outfielder Takumaru Yaoita next season.

Shun Yamaguchi's history since becoming a pro player

Shun Yamaguchi is a 35-year-old pitcher from Oita Prefecture.

In 2006, he joined what was then Yokohama in the first round of the high school draft from Yanagigaura High School in Oita Prefecture.

At the age of 25 years and 1 month, he was the youngest player at the time, recording 30 saves or more for two consecutive years since 2010, making a total of 100 saves.

In the off-season of 2016, he transferred from DeNA to the giants as a FA = free agent, and in 2018 he achieved a no-hitter and no-run run. He won titles in three pitching categories, including the most wins, and contributed greatly to the Giants' first league victory in five years.

In the off-season that year, he used the posting system to transfer to the Blue Jays in the major leagues, but in his first year, he was unable to produce results with 2 wins and 4 losses and an ERA of 8.06.

Last year, the second year of the major league, he was out of force before the camp and signed a minor contract with the Giants, but he left the team due to poor results and returned to the Giants in the middle of the season.

This season, although he pitched in one game as a middleman in April, he fell to the second army and was never promoted to the first army again.
