Neymar, the Brazilian soccer star, explained his reasons for calling for the support of current President Jair Bolsonaro in the run-off in the presidential elections scheduled for a week.

In a video with the right-wing president, which was broadcast online on Saturday (local time), Neymar said that "people know what is best for Brazil".

Referring to the 2022 World Cup that kicks off next month, Neymar said, "Everything will be great: Bolsonaro is re-elected, Brazil becomes the champion, everyone is happy."

Neymar indicated that he will wave the number 22 after his first goal in the World Cup, a number that Bolsonaro is promoting for his party in the electoral battle.

The Brazilian player considered that Bolsonaro represents values that are very similar to his values and those of his family, and said, "I noticed that I need this strength, and I realize that it will help many people," noting that for this reason he invites all the people who are undecided after they vote for Bolsonaro.

Bolsonaro scored a surprisingly strong result, contrary to opinion polls, in the first round of the presidential election earlier this month.

The race is still open ahead of Sunday's run-off, and Bolsonaro and his leftist rival, former President Lula da Silva, are now battling for every vote, each trying to win social groups to his side.
