FC Schalke 04 has separated from coach Frank Kramer.

The promoted team announced this after the 5-1 defeat in the second round of the DFB Cup against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Wednesday.

According to the club, training on Wednesday will be led by the assistant coaches.

A successor for Kramer, who succeeded interim coach Mike Büskens in the summer and signed a contract until 2024, has not yet been determined.

Schalke 04 have to play Hertha BSC in the league on Sunday (5.30 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the Bundesliga and on DAZN).

Immediately after the clear defeat, Kramer said that he didn't feel left in the lurch.

"That's always the question.

I'm part of the team.

I'm just assuming now that the players have been rolled over for whatever reason.

The most important thing is FC Schalke 04,” said Kramer after the 5-1 defeat in the second round of the cup in Sinsheim.

“It was undoubtedly our worst performance of the season.

It doesn't get any worse than that," admitted the coach after the cup defeat: "The defenselessness is almost a mystery to me.

We all let the club down.”
