Confederation of South America supports Infantino for a new term in the presidency of "FIFA"

The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) unanimously announced its support for the re-election of Gianni Infantino as president of the International Federation (FIFA) during the General Assembly of the international organization next March.

The 52-year-old is seeking a third term in office after beating Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa in 2016 after Sepp Blatter resigned.

"After consultations on the current reality and future scenario of South America and world football, the member associations of CONMEBOL have unanimously decided to lend their support to Infantino," CONMEBOL said in a statement today.

The Asian Confederation and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) gave their full support to Infantino during the past months.
