Officially, Novak Djokovic is the seventh player in the world.

Unofficially, the Serb deserves much better than his current ATP ranking, truncated by the non-awarding of points at Wimbledon, which he won this year.

"Djoko" won without trembling this Sunday in the final of the ATP 500 in Astana, Kazakhstan, against Stefanos Tsitsipas (6th in the world) in two sets (6-3, 6-4).

This is the 90th tournament won by the man with 21 Grand Slam titles, the fourth of the year and the second in a row after Tel Aviv.

The former (and future?) planetary No. 1 remains 13 lengths behind newly retired Roger Federer and 19 behind record holder Jimmy Connors.

Missed tournaments due to non-vaccination

But he did not make it easy for himself by missing competitions because of his refusal to be vaccinated against Covid, such as the last Australian Open and US Open.

Guaranteed to participate in the Turin Masters, from November 13 to 20, Djokovic displays a resplendent form.

He dropped only one set in Tel Aviv and then in Astana, this Saturday in the semi-final against Daniil Medvedev, forced to retire when the Russian was two points from victory (6-4, 6-7).
