The controversial LIV tour has attracted several of golf's big stars.

But not the world's top amateur Ludvig Åberg - who turned down an offer earlier this year.

Expressen reported on the nob on Thursday.

For SVT Sport, Åberg talks about his decision.

- I want to play in the big competitions and establish myself as a professional player.

It's my dream.

By signing up for the LIV tour, you are burning some bridges.

For me, it was never really an option.

"A lot of money"

Expressen stated that it was a bid worth SEK 150 million.

The sum is not correct.

- It was a lot of money, but not that much.

How much?

- I keep that to myself.

- But it's a very strange situation, amateurs can earn a lot of money and especially now that LIV has entered the picture.

They offer sums that are completely absurd.

"Henrik is a role model"

Åberg says that the Saudi origin of the money played a role in the decision.

- As a Swede, I associate Saudi Arabia with a regime that does not match the way we have it in Sweden.

Unfortunately, this is the case on many fronts in sports.

That's how it is.

Swedish golf icon Henrik Stenson has received a lot of criticism since he signed on for the LIV tour.

Åberg does not want to sentence him.

- Everyone's situations are different.

Henrik is and has been a role model for me.

I have no idea what he had to stand on, so I'm not in a position to question him.
