It was last Sunday evening that the police received information that a woman in her 20s had been raped in an apartment in central Stockholm.

The suspect was arrested in his absence just before 02:00 on Monday night and just over an hour later he was detained.

During Monday morning, Djurgården IF published a press release on the club's website where they stated that it is a player in their men's soccer team who has been arrested.

Since then, the player has been in prison in Kronoberg.

Earlier today, the prosecutor Frida Vedin decided that the suspect would be requested to be detained on probable cause on suspicion of rape, which is the higher degree of suspicion, and at 2 pm the news came that he will remain in custody with full restrictions.
