For its second edition, the Tour de France Women is making a comeback but changing its starting point.

The event, which will take place from July 23 to 30, 2023, will start not from Paris like the previous one but in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme);

A second stage in Auvergne?

“We have made equality between men and women an important point in our sports policy.

We therefore said that we were happy that the Tour de France Women was restarting and that Clermont was potentially on the program for this event”;

explained Olivier Bianchi, the mayor of the town.

The city which had proposed to host the event, saw its candidacy retained.

Although the complete route of the event, like that of the men's version, will not be known until October 27, other municipalities in the department may be included.

A second stage between Saint-Genès-Champanelle (Puy-de-Dôme) and Mauriac (Cantal) is mentioned in particular by the organizers.

According to

Ouest-France

, the competitors should then head south, probably via the Pyrenees.
