Peter Schmeichel is most associated with his time at Manchester United, but the now 58-year-old veteran goalkeeper also played for the rival club.

His career ended in Manchester City.

The Dane has thus played his fair share of the Manchester derby - and of course saw Sunday's big meeting with the Etihad Stadium.

And he was just like everyone else lyrical about Norwegian Erling Braut Haaland's performance in that particular match, but also impressed with what the 22-year-old has achieved during his first spell at Manchester City since moving from Bundesliga side Dortmund.

"Zlatan-like goal"

- You can see different types of players in him, he is a mixture of several top players.

You have that Zlatan-like goal and you see a bit of Cristiano Ronaldo there too.

You see several top players in one and the same player, he says.

- That is why he is so dangerous.

He has had the luxury of watching many good strikers and now he has managed to combine their skill with his own.

Haaland once again stood for an impressive effort in Premier League football.

In the derby, he was noted for his third consecutive hat-trick at home, in a league context, and also played up to two of Phil Foden's three goals in the 6–3 victory.

Haaland historic

Through his three goals, Haaland became historic.

No other player in league history has scored three hat-tricks in as few games.

The closest is Michael Owen.

He needed 48 games – Haaland eight.

- The most important detail to be a good striker is to be patient.

I have played against some of the best and it was when they disappeared that you really had to keep an eye on them, says Schmeichel.

- They disappear and then they strike when they get the chance.

Erling Braut Haaland has scored a total of 14 goals in eight league games - second highest scorer Harry Kane has 7 - and three in two Champions League rounds.

Which means he has a total of 17 goals in 11 games for Manchester City.
