It was just over eight months ago, more precisely on January 23, that Lisa Hörnblad crashed properly in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The 26-year-old managed to get up by his own machine but had to be transported down the hill in a sled.

Once at the hospital in Milan, it was determined that everything but the posterior cruciate ligament in her left knee had ruptured.

- It was really a serious injury.

Almost everything was broken and, above all, all the cartilage was gone, says Hörnblad to SVT Sport.

That she would stand on a pair of skis again was certainly not a given.

- I think the doctor is still a little shocked that I even ski.

I really didn't think it would happen this fast.

The messages I received at the beginning meant that I did not even expect that I would stand on a pair of skis again, then it was about getting a knee back that you can live with.

"It feels completely unreal"

In mid-September, she made a comeback at a national team camp in Oslo.

- It feels completely unreal that it went by so quickly at the end.

I was so very, very disabled at the beginning, it feels so surreal to be on a ski slope nine months later.

It's like you missed something.

How did it feel then?

- Good.

I still can't walk fully but it's beyond all expectations, I thought I would be in so much more pain considering I have no cartilage in my knee.

Has had a knee injury before

Luckily, she's used to it.

In 2018, she seriously injured her right knee.

- I can have even more pain in the other knee and it was still four years since I injured it.

So I'm kind of used to it.

What does the goal look like in the future then?

- I have a goal of going to Lake Louise at the end of November, but I won't beat myself up if I don't make it.

The doctors think it's a little early.

That's the goal, but I will absolutely not be disappointed if I don't make it, it's the knee that gets to decide.
