Club legend Roy Keane sharply criticized the players after Manchester United's 6-3 defeat in the derby at Manchester City.

"You should be ashamed.

You can't be 4-0 down at half-time in a derby, from the players' perspective they should be really embarrassed," said the long-time United captain.

The performance in the second half is no good as a consolation.

"I just can't imagine going into the dressing room at a big club like Manchester United and being 4-0 down at half-time," said Keane (51), who had seen progress with the English record champions in the most recent games before that would have.

"We've given them a little praise over the past few weeks, but that's a big step backwards, a setback.

That game was brutal," said Keane, while at the same time raving about the Guardiola team: "It's a pleasure to see Man City.

They're one of the best teams I've ever seen.” The three-goal scorers Erling Haaland and Phil Foden were brilliant.

United coach Erik ten Hag also found clear words in the direction of his team.

"This performance is unacceptable," said the Dutchman.

Above all, the attitude was not right this time, of all things in the duel with the archrival.

"If you don't fight like we didn't do, then you'll get crushed," said ten Hag.

His players would have lacked faith and courage.

But: "I think it's good that a team like City shows you where you are at this moment.

We'll learn our lesson and we have to do better in the next game."

Three goals again, another record – Haaland is not only astonishing football England, but even his coach Pep Guardiola, who strives for perfection.

“We have this incredible feeling that he always looks hungry and is so competitive.

The numbers are scary," said the Manchester City manager after the impressive 6-3 win over arch-rivals United.

The 23-year-old Norwegian managed the feat of scoring three goals in a row in his third home game – becoming the first player in Premier League history.

"I've never scored three hat-tricks in three home games.

It's wonderful," Haaland told the BBC.

And that's only in just eight appearances in the English football championship.

"Not bad!

We scored six goals, what can you say?

It's incredible to win at home and score six goals, yes, it's nice," said the goalscorer, who joined Manchester from Borussia Dortmund earlier this season.

"Just a monster," wrote his former BVB teammate Mats Hummels on Twitter, "it's good that he's now used to other countries." Haaland has played eleven games for the English soccer champions and scored a phenomenal 17 times.

Together with former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski (FC Barcelona) and exceptional scorer Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain), the Norwegian leads the list of goalscorers in the Champions League with three goals in two games.
