In the shock of the 9th day of the English Championship, Sunday October 2, Manchester City inflicted a humiliation on its local rival, Manchester United (6-3).

The 188th Manchester derby turned into a demonstration … or a humiliation, depending on which side you are on.

Better to have a sky blue heart at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon to have a smile frozen on your lips.

Red Devils fans have had a particularly difficult day.

The good series recorded before the international break (four victories in a row in the Premier League) came to an abrupt end in the lair of the local rival.

With Cristiano Ronaldo on the substitute bench – and never entered the game – and rookie Antony lined up in attack with Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial, Manchester United experienced a first act of hell against Pep Guardiola's armada.

The Spanish boss had decided to leave Riyad Mahrez out of his starting XI, but he had enough other first-rate assets to make the powder speak.

The alien Haaland does not stop anymore

It only took seven minutes for Bernardo Silva to find Phil Foden for the opener.

Manchester City then gave Manchester United ten nightmare minutes before the break.

On a corner kicked by Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland doubled the lead (34th).

And on another perfect service from the Belgian, the Norwegian scored again in stride (37th).

He then turned into a passer for his teammate Foden (44th).

4-0 at the break, doubled from Haaland and Foden: a first period of suffering, basically, for the visitors.

A day.

After the break, the Red Devils regained a bit of composure thanks to Antony, author of a splendid goal on a long shot (56th).

But hope was quickly extinguished by City and its stars.

Haaland went there with his hat-trick (64th), as did Foden behind (73rd).

Two players who scored a hat-trick in the same game is only the third time this has happened in Premier League history, according to statistics institute Opta. Arsenal Jermaine Pennant and Robert Pirès in 2003 against Southampton and after Leicester players Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy in 2019 against Southampton.

Erling Haaland also made English football history as the first player to score three consecutive hat-tricks in home games.

In a late game where City seemed to ease off, Anthony Martial lessened the scale of the disaster for Manchester United.

He first scored with a header (84th) before converting a penalty (90th +1).

It had been a year to the day since he had scored in the Premier League.

Not sure, however, that it really brings the hearts of United players back to life.

In the standings, Manchester City takes second place alone with 20 points, one unit behind leader Arsenal.

Erling Haaland, he always crushes everything in his path: with 14 goals in 8 league matches, the Norwegian prances at the top of the scoring charts, already far ahead of Harry Kane and his 7 units.
