The Serbian 35-year-old Novak Djokovic has an unusually tough year behind him.

Due to his refusal to get vaccinated against covid-19, he has been stopped from several competitions, including the Grand Slam events Australian Open and US Open.

Beat Cilic in the final

That, combined with some injury problems, has left him 'just' on two tournament wins in 2022, ahead of this week's Tel Aviv Open in Israel - his first competition in a month and a half.

But he won that competition.

In tonight's final against Croatian Marin Cilic, he won 6–3, 6–4 after a playing time of 1 hour and 34 minutes.

- I will take a lot of positives with me from this week, and I hope it was not the last time I came here, he said after the match, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
