28-year-old Anna Lagerquist has a leading role in the Swedish national handball team and her new club Nantes.

Despite missing the match pulse almost completely for six months, because she chose to break the contract with Rostov-Don after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Lagerquist is still at least as strong and stubborn on the six-meter line.

That's where she moves as a center six - a position she doesn't fully love.

- If I had to choose again when I was younger, I might not have chosen middle six.

I think it's a lot of fun, but sometimes it feels quite ungrateful.

It's very physical, it's a lot of wrestling, too little ball, says Anna Lagerquist to SVT Sport, who meets the star middle six in Nantes on the French west coast.

What would you have chosen instead?

- I don't know, some kind of nine-meter player.

Only I can have more ball.

Want to stay at the top

From her position as middle six, where she is one of the world's best, Anna Lagerquist and Sweden will try to exchange fifth place at the World Cup and fourth place at the Olympics for something nobler at the EC in a month's time.

- I think we have made a good journey, the last few years since Tomas (Axnér, national team captain) took over.

And that we are constantly working to improve ourselves and take the next step before each collection.

And have done two good championships that we have behind us.

At the same time, we are absolutely not satisfied with it, but we want to continue working.

And we have shown that we can be at the top, we would like to stay there.

The EC in handball is decided between November 4th and 20th.
