The body of American mountaineer Hilaree Nelson was found in the Himalayas on Wednesday, two days after she disappeared on the slopes of Mount Manaslu in Nepal.
“The search team that left this morning by helicopter spotted his body and are bringing him back,” said Jiban Ghimire of Shangri-La Nepal Trek, which organized the expedition.
Hilaree Nelson (49) had succeeded on Monday in climbing the 8,163 meters of Manaslu, which makes this mountain the eighth highest in the world, with his companion Jim Morrison.
But an avalanche hit this Himalayan mountain on Tuesday, and also killed a Nepalese climber, while the American mountaineer began the descent on skis.
