Offenbach's coach Alexander Schmidt had announced "full-throttle football" for winning the title in the Southwest Regional Football League.

In the summer, there was great enthusiasm on the Bieberer Berg for the brisk pace of the 53-year-old soccer coach.

But nothing came of hooray football.

Rather, Schmidt quickly steered the Kickers into the crisis;

After eight matchdays, the often haphazardly coming Hessians had only collected eleven points.

Things got so bad that the OFC pulled the emergency brake.

Schmidt, who was dismissed from the club, did not have more than 85 days of service.

The trainer had rushed the ascent project to the wall.

Now the misery is great at the traditional club.

lack of competence

The kickers in an emotional endless loop: Schmidt was the seventh coach in the past ten regional league seasons who failed due to the more or less offensively formulated requirement of promotion to the third division.

Despite its great ambitions, the OFC has become a permanent guest in the fourth division with a stadium that is at least ready for the second division.

All in all, the Kickers lack the football skills at the management level to choose the right coach, who puts together a competitive team that meets the high standards and is in turn able to cope with the pressure of having to win.

The current squad is also equipped with some second and third division experienced players.

However, they did not get going together.

Twelve signings faced 17 departures in the summer.

Coach Sreto Ristic and managing director Thomas Sobotzik also had to go.

The big change in personnel ended in the usual pattern of separation from the coach.

"A defeat for everyone," said the new managing director Matthias Georg.

Offenbach's President Joachim Wagner and Peter Roth (Vice-President) ensure with their financial commitment and their contacts to financiers that the Kickers are at least financially stable.

Otherwise, if there was no success, the unrest would be even greater.

With interim coach Alfred Kaminski, the ninth OFC won 1-0 in Kassel.

The club wants to take its time looking for a new coach;

the Kickers cannot afford another missed shot.

In coach Schmidt, who has experience in the second division, they were very wrong.
