The women's volleyball world championship has started, and Japan defeated Colombia in straight sets in the first match of the first round.

The women's volleyball world championships, held once every four years, kicked off on the 24th in the Netherlands and Poland.



The tournament will be divided into 4 groups of 6 teams to compete in the first league, and the top 4 teams in each group will advance to the second league.



In addition, the top eight teams from the second round will advance to the final tournament.



Japan, ranked 7th in the world, played against Colombia, ranked 16th in the world, in their first match of the first round on the 25th.



At the beginning of the first set, captain KOGA Sarina gave the team momentum with sharp spikes, and in the final stages of the match, she made a back attack and pushed the opponent away to take the match 25-20.



In the second set, Japan accumulated points with Haruyo SHIMAMURA's moving attacks and Arisa INOUE's powerful spikes, and won 25-22. Straight sets victory over Colombia.



Japan will face the Czech Republic in their second match of the first round on the 26th.
