Kip Choge, who raised his arms and vowed to propagate, started running at a great pace with the starting gunfire.

He ran half of the race in 59 minutes 51 seconds and 1 hour, raising hopes of breaking through the 'Dream Record' 2 time zone.

Although the pace dropped a little in the second half, Kipchoge crossed the finish line in '2 hours 1 minute 9 seconds' and broke the world record.

Four years ago, he pulled his own record at the Berlin competition by 30 seconds in the same place.

His 1984-born Kip Choge was determined to continue his challenge to the one-hour record even at the not-so-noticeable age of his late thirties.
