One more soldier on the ground for Didier Deschamps.

Ousmane Dembélé is uncertain for the last Nations League match against Denmark, Didier Deschamps said on the eve of the match.

The coach also intends to establish Alphonse Areola due to the absences of Lloris and Maignan.

"Ousmane felt discomfort in the calf, he trains separately" during the match watch session, explained Deschamps.

“We will take stock afterwards,” he added, assuring that the other players were all fit 24 hours before the match.

Dembélé, 25, made his return to Blue for the first time since his injury during the last Euro in June 2021. He came into play against Austria in Saint-Denis on Thursday (2-0) for a quarter of an hour .

Cascade of wounds

Deschamps faces for this return to a cascade of injuries, including many executives.

In addition to number 1 goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris, other players like Presnel Kimpembe, brothers Theo and Lucas Hernandez, Paul Pogba, N'Golo Kanté, Kingsley Coman and Karim Benzema are missing.

Goalkeeper number 2 Mike Maignan and defender Jules Koundé, for their part, both suffered an injury Thursday during France-Denmark and withdrew.

Faced with the package of the first two goalkeepers in the hierarchy, West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola will start on Sunday, confirmed Deschamps.
