Women's team Fifteen players resign as they do not agree with the continuity of Jorge Vilda
"I hereby inform you that due to the latest events that have occurred in the Spanish team and the situation generated, facts of which you are aware, which
are significantly affecting my emotional state and therefore my health
, currently I do not I see myself in a position to be a selectable player for our national team and
I request not to be called
up until this situation is reversed."
This is how the email begins that yesterday, Thursday, at seven in the afternoon, reached those responsible for the
Spanish Football Federation
.
Its origin, fifteen email addresses of
fifteen soccer players
who had been summoned in the last list of the coach
Jorge Vilda
.
They all ask not to be summoned until the coach is no longer in charge of the national team.
It's a resignation, basically, although they avoid that word.
"My commitment to the team in the past, present and future was, is and will be absolute. And
I am the first who wants to achieve the maximum number of sporting successes
for our team. I remain at your entire disposal for whatever you consider appropriate, always with the aim of seeking the best for our national team", confess in that letter
Ainhoa Moraza, Lola Gallardo
(Atlético),
Mapi Leon, Patri Guijarro, Claudia Pina, Aitana Bonmatí, Mariona Caldentey, Sandra Paños
(Barça),
Laia Aleixandri, Leila Ouahabi
(Manchester City),
Ona Batlle, Lucía García
(Manchester United),
Andrea Pereira
(America from Mexico),
Nerea Eizaguirre and Amaiur Sarriegi
(Real society).
The captains,
Irene Paredes, Jenni Hermoso and Alexia Putellas
, the latter injured, have not sent the mail but are also on the side of her companions.
A "compromise" that is now twisted by disagreements with Jorge Vilda.
But
what really happened between the coach and this group of players to get to this situation
?
Both the Federation, which in this case acts as the opposite side, and the
CSD
, which at the moment awaits events and demands "
prudence
" from the media environment, ask the soccer players for the same thing: "
Let them explain themselves
", assure various sources from the organizations to this newspaper.
"A General Malaise"
In the
controversy of September 1
, when it was reported that the players wanted Vilda to resign from her position, the captains denied any attempt to dismiss their coach and only spoke of a "
general malaise
".
"At no time have we asked for Jorge's dismissal, we have conveyed the feelings of the players, nothing more," Paredes confessed.
"It's a general malaise of the team," Guijarro added.
"What we transmit is that we are an ambitious group and we want to improve.
We believe that there are internal aspects that can be changed
. I know that there will be modifications to change the situation," Paredes insisted.
Those words, which did not argue any alarming or reportable fact, seemed to
calm the atmosphere
while waiting for future meetings between the players and the coaching staff.
But nothing is further from reality: this Thursday everything was blown up again.
As this newspaper has been able to confirm, in recent weeks there have been various
conversations between the captains and Vilda
that have kept the relationship as it was: just as bad.
From the Federation it is transferred that yesterday's email is "ambiguous" and leaves in the air "that something very very big is happening, when it is not like that".
And from the CSD chaired by José Manuel Franco, they consider that "the way the soccer players act is not adequate and
we need more information
", according to government sources admitted to this newspaper.
More information that, at the moment, does not arrive.
Both the soccer players and their environment and the Futpro union, in which the players are, have decided
to remain silent
after the Federation's statement and have not given any further explanations, so everything is summed up in the "
discomfort
" with the coaching staff argued in the last press conference and the emotional and health problem that they explained in the mail.
This weekend, in addition,
the F League returns
with the participation of most of the players involved in the mail.
