Otani, from Okinawa Prefecture, won the first round of the Grand Sumo Autumn Tournament with seven wins.

Otani is 22 years old from Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture.

In Imabasho, which was the 16th opening of the west, he won the victory centered on the powerful push and four sumo wrestling that made use of his physique with a height of 1.84 cm and a weight of over 180 kg.
Ohtani said, "I was relieved. The atmosphere was completely different from when I was in college, and I don't think I've ever been the least nervous about sumo, but I'm glad I was able to win the championship."
