The hard-working midfielder Israelsson has played more than 100 Allsvenskan matches for Kalmar FF and was among other things involved in winning SM gold with Smålandsklubben in 2008.

Between 2014 and 2017 he played in Hammarby where he scored 20 goals in 76 games.

After stays in the Netherlands and Norway, he returned home to Kalmar and the Allsvenskan again in 2020.

That year, he was a major contributing factor to KFF, which was having a hard time at the time, managed to stay in the top league.

- In a way this feels like a natural decision, but in another way it's really hard and boring.

I've had injury problems for a long time, a year and a half actually and the main reason is that I can't do myself justice anymore.

It does not work.

I can't perform at the level I want, he tells Studio Kalmar.

- I have always been very dependent on my physique and my body, perhaps more than other players.

Tackling, running and all the pieces needed in midfield.

But for a year and a half I've really just been a parenthesis.

There will be a farewell for Israelsson in connection with Kalmar's match against Mjällby on October 20.
