Djurgården got off to a dream start on their planned return to the SHL, after three of the new acquisitions delivered straight away.

Olle Liss and John Norman scored 1–0 and 3–0 respectively in the power play.

In between, Daniel Brodin led 2–0 in a game five against three.

- It was absolutely magical to go in here.

Damn what a boost you got.

It feels like there is as much energy as possible.

It's damn fun to play, I hope it's reflected on the ice too, Olle Liss told Cmore after the first period.

Västerås created excitement

Even though Djurgården went into the break with 3–0, there was tension in the match.

Alexander Lunsjö hit the puck "on tennis" after just over seven minutes into the second period, and 46 seconds later it rang again.

But Västerås didn't come any closer than that.

Olle Liss' two-goal scorer

Because Olle Liss was not ready for the evening.

Marcus Krüger, with two Stanley Cup titles under his belt, notched his second second assist of the night as Liss rallied to make it 4–2 early in the third period.

After that, it never felt close.

The match ended 5–3.
