He ranks as one of the SHL's best defenders, but Jonathan Puda's effort in Saturday's SHL premiere against Malmö was nothing short of remarkable.

The normally stable right-handed shooter's carelessness resulted in two late goals and a 5–2 loss.

So it was, in other words, a revenge-hungry Pudas who stepped onto the ice in Linköping on Tuesday evening - and it didn't take long before he showed why he won the backers' scoring in superior style last season.

Filip Sandberg was responsible for the fine play and Puda's finish was exactly where it should have been, close to the left post, while Albin Sundsvik deservedly hid in front of LHC goalkeeper Marcus Högberg.

- It's a good pass and good dusk too, I must say.

I don't have much to shoot at, but the puck goes in, says Pudas to C More.

After the lead goal, Skellefteå continued to dominate the match - but even though they created one sharp goal chance after the other, it took until 7.09 of the middle act before the second came.

Goal scorer: Oscar Möller in powerplay.

A little hope was lit for Linköping when Linus Hultström reduced on the power play with 47 seconds left to play in the second period - but that joy was short-lived.

Just 13 seconds later, Jonathan Johnson extended Skellefteå's lead to 3–1 and it got even worse when Linus Lindström managed to send in the 4–1 puck 16 seconds before the break.

- Of course it's tough, these last two goals we get against us are like a slap in the face, Hulström told C More during the period break.

However, Linköping plucked up new courage and managed to put a reduction through Filip Bystedt barely four minutes into the third period, but they never came closer than that.

Instead, they were forced to watch as Johnson sent in his second goal of the night moments later, this time on the power play, and then Joakim Lindström extended the lead to 6–2.

A goal which means that Lindström has scored the most points in Skellefteå of all time, 466 to be precise.

The previous record was held by Pär Mikaelsson.
