It's not just Klara Andersson's first podium in the Rallycross World Championship.

It is thus the first time ever that a woman has stepped up to the podium.

And the 22-year-old from Hörby in Scania managed that feat during his debut season in the World Rallycross Championship.

- Of course it's great fun and it's my first podium.

Regardless of whether I had finished fourth or third, I would have been incredibly satisfied with the development this weekend, she says.

Andersson's stablemate Niclas Grönholm won ahead of Ole Christian Veiby.

Andersson was able to squeeze third place when star Johan Kristoffersson received a time penalty of ten seconds and finished fifth.

How highly do you rate this podium?

- My God, last year I ran the WC in Sweden and then I'm taking the huge step to the WC this year.

It's very much new, new tracks and it's very tough against so many established drivers.

But I am very happy about our development and that we are learning quickly, she says.

Sunday's competition in Portugal was the fifth World Cup competition out of eleven this year.

But Andersson does not dare to hope for a victory before the end of the year.

- It will take a while, I feel.

These guys have been driving significantly longer than I have and are incredibly fast.

But I mean, of course I aim to drive as fast as I can.

After five races, Andersson is sixth overall with 52 points scored.

The leader is Johan Kristoffersson, who won the four opening competitions, with 91 points.
