The race, which lasted for 24 hours, took place in Verona, Italy.

In the last mile, Sorokin was joined by Swedish runner Emir Halalkic, who pulled six kilometers until Sorokin passed the previous world record (309.4 km).

"I am very tired, but at the same time twice as excited," writes Aleksandr Sorokin on Instagram.

Hartelius broke a personal record

Emir Halalkic became the best Swede on the men's side (13th place) when he was recorded for 261.615 km.

Elin Hartelius broke a personal best by one mile and became the best Swede on the women's side at 229.392 km, which resulted in 17th place.

Apart from Sorokin, only Yiannis Kouros (303.5 km) and Andrzej Piotrowski (301.859 km) have been over 300 km.
