Timrå has recruited well during the summer and, among other things, landed new acquisitions such as the returnees Anton Wedin, Emil Pettersson, Anton Lander and Jonathan Dahlén.

With such names comes expectations, but despite that, there were probably not many people who expected that Timrå would have any chance in the away opener against Frölunda.

But they had, thanks in large part to goalkeeper Jacob Johansson, who had a lot to do as Timrå incurred five two-minute expulsions and a match penalty.

But despite the upper hand, Frölunda did not manage to grab a reassuring lead.

Before the third period, the score was 2–1 and just over six minutes later it was equalized through Emil Pettersson in a power play.

There were no more goals in regular time and the match went to a goalless extra time before it was time for penalties.

Once there, Timrå was the sharper team.

Johansson continued to do well in goal while both Dahlén and Pettersson scored their penalties for the visitors.

- Nice with a win, we're not in a great position with all the expulsions, Frölunda has to play power play for half the match.

It is very lucky that we have a good goalkeeper and a good box play today, says Jonathan Dahlén, who is really satisfied with Timrå's effort.

- I think we have no worries in the five-on-five game today, it's just a matter of staying out of the penalty box and this will be fine, says Dahlén.
