This summer, Chinese player Wang Quanze completed his studies at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the United States and successfully graduated. After returning to China to join the CBA Guangzhou team, he started the first season of his career.

In fact, the Guangzhou team had already registered for Wang Quanze last year, but he did not immediately land in the CBA in order to complete his senior year.

Now, after successfully completing his studies, Wang Quanze started his CBA journey with confidence.

Wang Quanze and the Guangzhou team completed a three-year B-type contract extension. In the new season, Wang Quanze will wear the No. 23 jersey to play.

On the 14th, Wang Quanze said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from Beijing Youth Daily: "I'm ready for the CBA. Although I haven't played a lot of games before, I'm a mature player both mentally and technically. player."

At the same time, Wang Quanze also revealed that he will automatically be eligible to participate in the NBA draft next year, and he will challenge the NBA.

"This is my dream." Wang Quanze said.

  Playing is influenced by parents

Basketball career starts in the fourth

Wang Quanze, who was born in 2000 and is 2.08 meters tall, started his basketball career in Beijing No. 4 High School. From 2012 to 2014, he studied and played in Beijing No. 4 High School. Later, he went to the United States to study high school, training while studying.

Wang Quanze said: "I was influenced by my parents when I played basketball. I really wanted to play basketball at that time. I used to fall asleep with basketball in my arms like many teenagers who love basketball. I have long hoped that I could play professional leagues in the future. But my parents The requirements for my studies are very strict. I remember that when I was in Beijing No. 4 Middle School, I spent a lot of time studying every day, so I would spend a lot less time training. There are more than 20 students in our school team who train and polish their skills every day. After I got the opportunity to go to high school in the United States, I decided to take this development path and continue to play while reading."

After graduating from high school in the United States, Quanze Wang chose the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Wang Quanze chose this school because of the large proportion of his studies. Of course, he is very interested in business, which is also helpful for him to complete his studies.

  knee injury

Two surgeries experienced a low point

In the freshman season, Wang Quanze was not the main force of the team at first, but he was competitive in his bones, and gradually won the trust of the coach with a more assiduous training attitude than others, and became the team's starter.

Wang Quanze was a starter for half the freshman season, averaging 8.5 points per game.

But in the sophomore season, Wang Quanze suffered an injury to his knee, and went through two surgeries and a long recovery period, which became a low point in his career.

"This injury may be caused by strain. Because I have been practicing continuously since high school, I remember that it would often be three trainings a day, and sometimes even four trainings. The more training, the better the skills of the game, but also the physical fitness. A greater load was generated, resulting in constant wear and tear of the knee." Wang Quanze recalled to the Beiqing Daily reporter, "After the injury, I had the first operation, but the recovery time after the operation was significantly longer than what the doctor told me at the time. It took me a lot longer. Then the college coach asked me to check again. I went to the Nets team doctor, and he told me that I was afraid to have a second operation. The second operation was very successful, but the two operations required recovery before and after. A year. At first, I was depressed, I didn't know why this happened to me. But then I thought that there are many people who are more difficult than me, and gradually changed the perspective of looking at this matter. In fact, It was also that year that made me understand that life is bigger than basketball."

Wang Quanze spent a year recovering from a knee injury. After he recovered, he encountered the impact of the epidemic again, which forced his college season to be suspended.

The four years of college played a little less, which is a big regret of Wang Quanze playing in the United States.

After completing four years of schooling this summer, Wang Quanze decided to return to China to start the first season of his career.

  Less emphasis on personal data

  The team wins

Wang Quanze expressed his expectations for joining the Guangzhou team. He said: "My goal in the new season is to help the team as much as possible. I hope to bring more victories to the team after joining the Guangzhou team. The numbers don't matter, the team wins is the most important thing."

Wang Quanze also has a clear understanding of his own characteristics.

"My advantage is comprehensiveness. I can help the team in many ways. And I'm a player who plays with my head. Making sound judgments at the right time is my strength," he said.

For the first season of his career, Wang Quanze also has a lot of expectations. For example, being a teammate with Jeremy Lin makes him particularly excited.

In Wang Quanze's heart, there are two role models, one is Yao Ming and the other is Jeremy Lin.

For Wang Quanze, he still has a bigger dream - to hit the NBA and play in the Olympic Games for the Chinese men's basketball team.

"This is my dream. It's not a good time for me to hit the NBA this year. I hope to make myself better through one year of CBA playing experience. Next year, I will automatically be eligible to participate. To qualify for the NBA draft, I will try to participate in the NBA Summer League, hoping to hit the NBA.” Wang Quanze told the Beijing Youth Daily reporter, “I also hope to continue to surpass myself. In 2024, I will follow the Chinese men’s basketball team to compete in the Paris Olympics, and then go to the Paris Olympics. Then it's preparing for the Los Angeles Olympics."
