The duo took – together with Malin Baryard Johnsson and Peder Fredricson – the WC gold as a team in Herning in August.

And von Eckermann completed his career-highest championship to date by becoming the individual world champion, just over a week after reaching the world number one position for the first time.

By virtue of that ranking, he is guaranteed a place in the World Cup competitions.

The same applies to world number three Peder Fredricson.

He too can come to the start if he wants, but he has not yet put his indoor planning.

Union captain Henrik Ankarcrona has the opportunity to take out a Swedish crew.

The place goes to Jens Fredricson, third in the World Cup final in Leipzig last spring.

Fredricson plans to ride his top horse Markan Cosmopolit in Telenor Arena.

Star-studded premiere

Last year's World Cup season mostly contained a number of canceled competitions due to the pandemic.

Several top riders will be attending this year's premiere.

In addition to the two Swedes, the Germans Daniel Deusser and Marcus Ehning and the Brazilian Marlon Zanotelli are also registered.

"Swedish equestrian sport is hot after the success at the WC.

It is incredible what development has taken place in Sweden in recent years.

We are happy for the Swedes in the starting field and of course it is extra cool that we get to see parts of the World Cup team," says competition leader Morten Aasen in a press release.
