With the return to the old RB joy of playing, Marco Rose woke up the ailing cup winner from Leipzig.

The Bundesliga club from Saxony, which started the season poorly, impressed on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund in a 3-0 (2-0) victory.

In front of 47,069 spectators in the sold-out arena, Willi Orban gave RB the lead after just six minutes, Dominik Szoboszlai (45th) increased with a long-range shot before substitute Amadou Haidara (84th) marked the final score.

RB climbed to tenth place in the table with their second win.

BVB fell back to fourth place.

Rose made only two changes to the starting XI, bringing on David Raum for Marcel Halstenberg and Emil Forsberg for André Silva.

At the back he played with a chain of four instead of three.

True to the logo on his shirt when he took office, "There is no victory without risk," RB started.

Instead of transverse attachments, there were long balls with lateral displacement as well as high pressing and fast switching games.

The early lead was then achieved by standard: After a corner, Orban headed the ball into the lower right corner.

BVB only developed in phases and didn't have any top-class scoring chances in the first half.

Leipzig is different: Like in the best of RB times, Timo Werner was repeatedly sent off steeply.

First he passed across in a promising position, where Marius Wolf cleared in front of Szoboszlai who was ready to score (33'), then he narrowly missed Meyer (44').

Shortly before the half-time whistle, Szoboszlai (45') shot into the top corner with a tight shot from 23 meters.

Modeste shoots well over the goal

After the change, Leipzig had exactly the space needed for pressing and switching games with a comfortable lead.

Anthony Modeste (63.) missed the first high-quality BVB chance with a volley from 17 meters that went well over the RB case.

On the other side, Werner (73rd) only hit the side netting.

Then the national striker hung up for Haidara, who pushed in to make it 3-0.

For Rose, who was born in Leipzig, it was not the first success as a coach in the arena.

In mid-September 2018 he won 3-2 with RB Salzburg in the group stage of the Europa League – after all, against his former coach Ralf Rangnick.

Xaver Schlager and Haidara were still under contract with the Austrians at the time, and Haidara scored 2-0 then - now 3-0.

Now, with defending champions Real Madrid, a mammoth task in the premier class awaits Leipzig on Wednesday before it goes to the second former club from Rose to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

With the rediscovered RB DNA, other possibilities are now revealed.

Because the raid-like switching game, as once inoculated under RB architect Ralf Rangnick, is more unpredictable for the opponents.

Club boss Oliver Mintzlaff also beamed in the stands about Rose's successful debut.
