After 2-1 against Tappara in the CHL final, Rögle became champion exactly six months ago.

The journey to a new title began in the best possible way tonight, away to Polish CHL debutants Katowice.

Already after 23 seconds of play, Tony Sund made it 1-0 with a good finish from the left drawing circle.

Magee equalized

But despite the dream start, it looked like there would be a loss.

Already ten seconds later, Brandon Magee was able to equalize for the home team, through a finish that did not look unassailable for Rögle's goalkeeper Calle Clang.

Three quick Rögle goals

Less than five minutes later it was also 2–1 for Katowice, when Grzegorz Pasiut fired a shot that went between Clang's arm and upper body, and in the second period Katowice also made it 3–1.

But in the third period, after three goals in less than two and a half minutes, Rögle was able to go up to 4–3.

Katowice equalized only 2.27 later through Rögle product Hampus Olsson.

But Rögle still won.

Samuel Jonsson struck with a shot from the blue line, which somehow easily found its way past goalkeeper John Murray, and Rögle took three points home to Sweden.
