I will continue to be vague because you never know, says the 40-year-old at the press conference after the first match.
There will be at least one more match in the singles competition, when she defeated Danka Kovinic from Montenegro in straight sets 6–3, 6–3 and thus advanced to the second round.
Celebrated after the match
A smiling Williams was honored with a speech by tennis legend Billie Jean King on the court after the match, which had a clear "last tournament" frame.

Williams praised the crowd after the game.
