In fencing, the most interesting at the Spartakiad was the confrontation in the final of the saber fencers of two Olympic champions Sofia Lokhanova (Pozdnyakova) and Yana Egoryan.

A native of Tbilisi won two golds of the Games in Rio de Janeiro, and in October 2020 announced the suspension of her career.

In May 2021, she gave birth to a son and after a few months she returned to big-time sports, where she is a worthy competitor to younger athletes.

In one of the episodes, Lokhanova, retreating, twisted her leg and fell onto the track, but after receiving medical assistance, she continued to fight.

An unexpected break did not bring down the mood of Yegoryan, who eventually won - 15:11.

Despite the result, Sofia, who also won gold in the team competition, was satisfied with the way the Spartakiad went.

“We really missed such a large-scale tournament.

A month ago, we were in Minsk at the All-Union Championship and were also pleasantly surprised by the preparations ... We thank Irina Viner-Usmanova, who provided her complex.

It’s very nice to fence here and win medals, ”Lokhanova admitted on Match TV.

Minakov traveled more than a day to the Spartakiad

The swimming tournament turned out to be representative, to which even those athletes who train in the USA arrived.

True, the road now takes much longer than before.

So, the three-time winner of the 2019 World Cup Andrey Minakov admitted that he spent 26 hours on the trip - he traveled through Turkey and Finland.

However, according to the athlete, he could not not participate in the competition.

“First: home for me is Russia, not the United States.

The USA is now a place of study.

Secondly, I had no problems with leaving, problems could arise with entry.

I did not want to risk it, but fortunately we received all the documents, all the entry permits.

So there won't be any problems.

Now I have a week and a half of vacation, I decided to spend it at home this year.

I will go to Moscow, unwind, see all my friends, and then with a clear conscience I will go to work in the USA, ”Minakov told the Championship.

He failed to show high results in personal competitions.

Most likely, the fact that the athlete on the eve of the Spartakiad had been ill with a coronavirus affected.

However, he still won one gold medal, winning the 4x100-meter freestyle relay as part of the St. Petersburg team.

Minakov also pleased with his know-how: in the stands he supported Pavel Borodin, cutting out a huge portrait of his teammate.

As the athlete said, this is often done in the USA, but in Russia he did not see such banners and decided to become the first.

Disqualification and victory of Rylov

The competition for the two-time champion of the 2020 Games Evgeny Rylov was ambiguous.

In the semi-final 100m backstroke, he was disqualified due to a false start.

However, at the 200-meter race, he did not make such a mistake and calmly won the decisive heat with an advantage of almost three seconds.

“Out of habit, they kept the start for a very long time.

On the back, it lasts from two seconds or more - this is catastrophically long.

I drew conclusions: today I deliberately pulled myself up later, ”said the athlete after the victory.

In general, almost all the awards were taken by the leaders of the national team.

Again there was no equal to Kliment Kolesnikov.

The swimmer admitted that he lacks high competition in domestic tournaments.

The president of the national federation, Vladimir Salnikov, suggested a variant of how to motivate him.

Lasitskene showed her best result of the season

Olympic champion Maria Lasitskene quietly won the high jump competition at the Spartakiad.

No one but her could take 1.94 meters.

Already in the rank of the winner, the athlete ordered 2.01 meters and coped with the bar, thus showing her best result of the season.

The highest jump this year was made in June at a tournament in Brno by Ukrainian Yaroslav Maguchy - 2.03 meters.

Lasitskene in Chelyabinsk also tried to overcome the bar at this height, but failed.

And she herself could not explain what went wrong.

Lasitskene also expressed regret that the summer season is ending for her, as the athlete is still full of energy and can jump further.

I'm not tired.

At that moment, Ekaterina Ivonina, who was running behind, made a sharp acceleration and outstripped her rival.

Another drama happened in the pole vault sector.

Anzhelika Sidorova won a confident victory.

But this time it's not about her, but about the European champion among juniors Aksana Gataullina.

The athlete remained in an offensive fourth place, although she expected more.

The problem is that her poles arrived in Chelyabinsk after the competition.

We were told that around these dates the cargo would arrive, and we were advised to hope for a miracle.

We waited until the very end.

Right before the start, dad went to the warehouse - suddenly a miracle happened and the truck had just arrived.

Stoyanovsky beat Krasilnikov again

Domestic fans remember the amazing performance of Oleg Stoyanovskiy and Vyacheslav Krasilnikov at the Tokyo Olympics.

Athletes reached the final of the beach volleyball competition and won the silver medals of the tournament - the first for Russia in the history of this sport.

But in early 2022, the couple broke up.

Vyacheslav now trains with former partner Konstantin Semenov, with whom he went to the Games in Rio, and Oleg with Ilya Leshukov.

Moreover, as Krasilnikov said, the partners parted not on the most pleasant note.
