The Swedish trio, consisting of Ingrid Lindblad, Meja Örtengren and Louise Rydqvist, started the final day of the WC five strokes behind leading Germany.

However, it turned out to be an even fight for the medals between as many as five teams: Japan, Germany, Spain, USA and Sweden.

Swedish Golf writes that almost everyone lost strokes on the last hole, and when Sweden had sunk the last putt they landed at -13.

Now and then they were a stroke behind the leading USA, but when Rose Zhang accounted for a bogey on the last hole, the Americans also ended up at -13.

Thus, Sweden secured the WC gold as it is the third score in the team that decides in the event of a tie.

There, Louise Rydqvist's 73 strokes were better than the USA's 74 strokes.

Sweden has previously won WC gold as a team on the women's side in 2004 and 2008
