They roared through the European Championship, eventually taking home a sensational European Championship gold and creating beach volleyball fever in sports Sweden over the weekend.
With a fresh European Championship gold in the prize cupboard, the 20-year-olds are now aiming for their next big goal: the Olympics in Paris 2024.
- Our big goal is the Olympics.
We will try to qualify for the Olympics in 2024. The qualification starts next season which starts after the New Year.
Whether there is a medal chance there now, I don't know.
But we have played damn well now anyway, says David Åhman.
They also hope that their success will generate interest in the sport in Sweden and attract new players to what is still a fairly small sport.
- We certainly hope that we will inspire more people to start playing beach volleyball.
We just want more and more people in Sweden to find that sport and start playing, says Jonathan Hellvig.
