You'd think Armand Duplantis got used to bringing home championship gold, but the pole vaulter says after defending his European Championship gold in Germany that you "never get tired of the feeling".

- It's so special, and maybe a little extra special because I'm here in Germany again.

It was like a kick start to my career.

It's like the circle is closed, he says.

A goal for the 22-year-old has been to write himself into the history books as the best pole vaulter of all time - and with the track record Duplantis has, it can be argued that he may have already done that.

- I must not achieve anything more, he says, thinking.

- But I want to have a long career.

It's just the beginning.

Right now the focus is to jump higher and eventually break the world record of 6.21 once again – and there is potential for improvement.

It mainly concerns strength and speed, according to the pole vaulter, who also states that the next pole is a world record pole.

- I know I can jump higher.

How high?

6.30?

- Yes maybe.

6.40?

- We'll see.
