Even though Perseus Karlström had a seemingly too far distance to leader Alvaro Martín with one kilometer to go, it was an exciting end to the EC's 20 kilometer race.
- I really hoped that Alvaro would get another warning at the end.
He finishes with two reds and has been told off by every single judge so I was really hoping going into the last that he would get a timeout but it didn't happen but I managed to get a silver anyway.
The feat in Munich, says Karlström, who was extremely satisfied with his own effort.
- To be able to come back after passing out on the 35th... it's a fabulous finish, for sure, says Karlström, who had some problems during the race.
- When Martín breaks away, he drives a kilometer really fast, at the same time I had little hold so I couldn't really respond.
It's a bit of a shame that I can't win today but Alvaro is really good and I'm close to max.
The silver medal was his third championship medal in just over five weeks.
- I have won a medal at every single championship this year.
It is only the Olympic medal that is missing now, says Karlström.
