Since Beijing's successful bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, Guangdong's ice and snow sports have also begun to develop rapidly.

In 2017, Guangdong established the Ice and Snow Sports Association. In 2018, the figure skating project began. In 2019, the Guangdong Youth Figure Skating Championship was held for the first time. At that time, more than 100 local Guangdong figure skating youth players participated.

It is understood that this competition has been held for three consecutive years. The number of players participating in the competition is increasing, showing a good momentum of development. Excellent athletes such as Peng Zhiming, Cheng Jiaying, David Dai, and Mo Tong have emerged.

The Shenzhen Kunlun Hongxing Ice Sports Center, where the competition is located, was completed at the end of 2020. It has a standard ice hockey rink with a length of 60 meters and a width of 26 meters. In 2021, it will become the training base of the national ice hockey project in Longgang, Shenzhen, and is mainly responsible for the national women's ice hockey. In addition to software and hardware support, the rapid development of ice and snow sports in Guangdong is also inseparable from the efforts of athletes and training teams.

For example, the two athletes who won gold medals in Dongguan are from Dongguan Bingxing Skating Co., Ltd.

Dongguan Bingxing Skating Co., Ltd. has been committed to promoting the popularization of winter sports and driving the development of ice and snow sports in the Bay Area. It has cooperated with Dongguan Skating Association for a long time to jointly cultivate outstanding reserve talents. Peng Zhiming, also the champion of Men's A, is also from Dongguan Bingxing Skating Co., Ltd. The company, from the beginning of basic training, has been receiving funding from Bingxing and the Association, providing free training for them.

After getting the results, transfer to Shenzhen.

The coach of Dongguan Bingxing Skating Co., Ltd. expressed that he hoped to provide the best training environment for athletes, repay the society with gratitude, and thank the Dongguan Sports Bureau for its long-term support.

In addition to figure skating, ice hockey has also become the official event of the Guangdong Provincial Games for the first time.

In the ice hockey competition of the Provincial Games that ended earlier, Guangzhou and Shenzhen each won two golds, one silver and one bronze, tying for the first place in the team's total score.
