Chelsea receives a severe blow .. the injury of its most prominent stars and his absence for a long time

Chelsea suffered a severe blow when French midfielder N'Golo Kante suffered a "serious" thigh injury that will keep him out of action for several weeks, according to German coach Thomas Tuchel.

"With regard to N'Golo, the issue is serious, we are talking about weeks (of absence), and this is not good news," Tuchel said at a press conference dedicated to Sunday's Premier League match against Leeds United.

"We are disappointed and sad, because N'Golo is very important (for the team) and he was at his peak."

The 31-year-old was injured last Sunday in the derby match against Tottenham (2-2), and his absence from Chelsea will be very influential given his very important role in the midfield.

The Frenchman is likely to miss the London team when the latter begins his Champions League campaign next month, joining another Croatian midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, who suffers from a knee injury.

Kante's injury comes three months before the start of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, as France defends the world title it won in Russia in 2018 at the expense of Croatia.

It is unlikely that Kante will be able to be with the French national team in its next gathering, which begins on September 19, in order to play two matches in the European Nations League.
