Lovisa Lindh ended up in a bad position when the pace was picked up in the last trial heat, and had difficulty getting up in the field.

She finished fifth, and the time (2.03.48) was too slow and her EC is over.

Afterwards, however, she wasn't too down.

- I think I ran much better than I did earlier this year, there was much more spray in the legs than in the previous races.

It's sad that it wasn't clear enough, but it got tangled several times on the second lap, with several stops.

Sad, but I did what I could, she told SVT Sport.

3.5 seconds off the personal best

Lindh, who was very clear about her disappointment after she was kicked out of the Olympics last year, came to the EC with a tough season in her bag.

Her annual best in the 800 meters (2.02.24) is almost 3.5 seconds off her personal best and she was not selected for the World Championships in Eugene.

With that in mind, she tried to look positively at her performance in Munich.

- I am proud of how I was able to come here and enjoy myself, because it has been quite tough this whole summer, especially mentally.

I have put incredibly high performance pressure on myself, above all after the years that have been.

I have felt enormous pressure, that I have to perform and really lost the joy in it, she said, and continued:

- But I came in here today and was able to enjoy it.

I have my whole family in the stands, so it feels good.

How has this summer been for you?

- Not so good, it's been pretty clear in the races I've run that something hasn't been right.

And it took quite a long time before I realized what it was, because the legs I've actually always felt that I had with them.

But there have been some other things that have messed up, but above all I haven't enjoyed competing as much as I usually do.
