Running ace Konstanze Klosterhalfen (Leverkusen) was the first German to win EM gold over 5000 m in Munich.
After a strong performance in the Munich Olympic Stadium, the 25-year-old was well ahead of 10,000m European Champion Yasemin Can from Turkey (14:56.91) and 10,000m European Vice Champion Eilish McColgan in 14:50.47 minutes UK (1:59.34) through.
It was also the first European Championship medal for a German runner over this distance.
