The London club made this announcement announced on Thursday and assured that it was ready to take the "strongest measures" against its own supporters if the facts were proven.

“Chelsea Football Club considers any form of discriminatory behavior to be totally abhorrent.

This has no place in Chelsea or any of our communities,” the statement read.

Lifetime bans already issued

“Yet there are still these kind of idiots who call themselves supporters, which puts Chelsea FC, our coaches, our players, our staff and our real supporters to shame.

Chelsea have in the past imposed lifetime bans on supporters found guilty of similar behavior.

The backrest of every seat at Stamford Bridge now has instructions on how to report racist incidents as part of the club's efforts to eradicate them.
