Before the final 800-meter race, Salming was tenth overall.

She then went out hard and led quite a bit at one stage during the first lap of her heat.

She faltered a bit at the end, but finished fourth in a time of 2.11.85.

It was a season best in the branch and brought the total score to a personal best of 6185 points.

That is 84 points better than the 23-year-old's previous record.

With the 800-meter race, she also climbed to eighth place overall.

The 800-meter race was won by Polish star Adrianna Sulek.

She finished second overall, almost 100 points behind Belgian winner Nafissatou Thiam who won with a score of 6628. Bronze went to Annik Kälin of Switzerland.

The bronze medalist set a national record.

Salming's best events were, as usual, javelin and high jump.

In the two branches she was third.

“Super disappointed now”

Lisa Lilja went out in the semifinals of 200 meters.

She finished eighth and last in her heat with a time of 23.96 seconds.

- I am super disappointed now.

It felt sickly tight out of the curve.

It just didn't fit, says Lilja, who had the inside track, to SVT Sport.

Ragnar Carlsson finished ninth in the shot put final with a best throw that measured 74.00 meters.

Thus, there were only three throws for the 21-year-old.

- On the one hand, nine in Europe is not so crazy, but I feel that I am capable of much more.

So it's quite sad, he says.
