Atlético Madrid coach's son moves on loan to Napoli

Argentine striker Giovanni Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, has moved to Napoli, Italy, from Verona on loan, as the two Italian clubs announced today.

The 27-year-old, son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, played his best scoring season in Verona, scoring 17 goals.

Italian newspapers revealed that the deal could become permanent next summer for 12 million euros ($12.2 million), if some conditions are met.

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti commented last week on the possibility of Simeone joining the southern team, saying, "He is a player that Napoli needs and vice versa. It's a good deal."

Only Ciro Immobile (Lazio), Serbian Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus) and Argentine Lautaro Martinez (Inter) were only superior to Simeone in terms of goals in the league last season.

Napoli seeks, by contracting with Simeone, to compensate for the gap left by the departure of Lorenzo Insigne and Belgian Dries Mertens to Toronto, Canada, and Galatasaray, respectively.

Reports said that Napoli is on the verge of signing Sassuolo striker Giacomo Rasbadori.
