Some of the participants in next year's show, which will be filmed in Montenegro in September, have just finished their careers.

This applies to skating phantom Nils van der Poel, skiing legend Charlotte Kalla and gymnast Jonna Adlerteg, among others.

For some others, such as rider Maria Gretzer and Olympic and World Cup winner Anja Pärson, it has been a little longer since they were active.

But this was not the first time that Pärson was asked to participate.

Anja Pärson: There has been a standing request every year

- There has been a standing request every year, says Pärson to SVT Sport.

But how come you haven't joined before?

- Partly it's life, with family and toddlers and full roll.

Then it felt like it would be a fun challenge quite far after the career.

How is the competitive instinct?

The now 41-year-old Pärson had a magical career that included seven WC and one Olympic gold, and she was often at her best when it mattered most.

But she is a little unsure of how the competitive instinct is today.

- We'll see if I succeed.

I will probably have some expectations to be what people recognize me from.

So it is clear that I will be a little nervous at the beginning.

Then we'll see what kind of branches and cleverness it will be.

We alpinists are known to be quite versatile, but we'll see if I break the trend or not, she says.

One who is also tagged is the presenter Micke Leijnegard.

- This year we get to fasten our seat belts - The Master's House will be bursting with competitive instinct!

For my part, I rejoice that Anja Pärson is finally on board, one of the greatest in Alpine history, and who I have been pestering her for over the years, says Leijnegard, host of the 15th season.

Kalla is looking forward to the participation

Call: "It's going to be great fun"

Pärson says she is looking forward to meeting the other participants and getting to know them.

One she has known for a long time is Charlotte Kalla, who she is also looking forward to participating in.

- I think this will be great fun.

What I'm looking forward to a little extra is getting to know both myself and the other athletes even more, and that in a new arena, she says.

The Champions of Champions 2023 will begin in September 2022 in Montenegro.

The series will be shown on SVT in the spring of 2023 (date not clear).
