The two Swedes swam in the first semi-final of the 100 meter breaststroke.

Sophie Hansson finished third with a time of 31.05 and Klara Thormalm fifth in 31.48.

Hansson says that she felt that swimming was a bit too stressful.

- It still felt good, better than yesterday, she says.

15 hundredths off the world record

In the other semi-final, Lithuania's Ruta Meilutyte swam in first in a super time of 29.44 – 15 hundredths off the world record.

In total, there were five swimmers in the heat who were faster than Hansson.

With that, she went on to the final as the last person.

Although she is the reigning champion from Budapest last year, this championship has been heavier and previously told that she did not recognize her body.

- I took a day off and got to see Louise win gold.

It has given me a lot.

Now I'm ready for the team race tomorrow too.

Seeliger knocked out

A while before the women's semifinals, Björn Seeliger swam the semifinals of the 50-meter freestyle.

He came fifth in his heat and had a total time of tenth, 22.04.

The fastest over the distance was Briton Benjamin Proud, who also holds the championship record.
