China News Service, Beijing, August 16th. The ITTF released a message on the 16th to confirm that due to a management error in the application of Article 4.2 of the ITTF World Ranking Rules, the ranking points of a few players were wrongly deducted.

Fan Zhendong of the Chinese team recovered the 1,400 points that had been deducted before, and the total points after the recovery were 6,900, ranking first.

　　According to the ITTF World Ranking rules, a player will be penalized with zero points in two cases: withdrawing from the WTT World Cup Final, WTT Championship and WTT Grand Slam, or three (or more) in other WTT/ITTF events times) to retire.

A zero-point penalty will be counted towards one of the 8 highest scores and retained for 12 months, replacing the player's 8th best score.

　　As a small number of athletes had fewer than 8 results counted in the world rankings, the erroneous implementation of the penalty policy affected them (15 singles players and 1 mixed doubles player) and their minimum results were replaced.

Example: A player has 3 results and 1 penalty, and only 2 results are counted in the ranking instead of 4 (3 results and 1 penalty).

　　Based on this, the world ranking has been corrected and the points lost by the respective athlete will be restored.

The ITTF will also establish corresponding IT and security systems in the future to avoid similar situations.

　　In this week's ITTF world rankings, the top ten men's singles remained unchanged. Fan Zhendong of the Chinese team recovered the 1,400 points that had been deducted before, and the total points after recovery were 6,900, ranking first.

Ma Long and Liang Jingkun ranked 2nd and 3rd, and Wang Chuqin ranked 10th.

Lin Gaoyuan ranked 11th, Xiang Peng ranked 29th, Yuan Licen ranked 34th, Liu Dingshuo ranked 45th, and Lin Shidong ranked 49th.

　　The top ten women's singles were also unchanged, with Chinese players Sun Yingsha, Chen Meng, Wang Manyu and Wang Yidi ranking in the top four.

Fan Siqi ranked 20th, Zhang Rui ranked 21st, Liu Weishan ranked 23rd, Kuaiman ranked 27th, and Chen Xingtong ranked 33rd.
