Fanny Roos came to the EC as a possible medalist.

Her newly set Swedish record of 19.42 was the third longest annual best before the championship.

In the final, Roos was joined by Axelina Johansson and the Swedes impressed in the first round where Roos hit 18.35 and Johansson won with 18.04.

The second round ended in an overstep from Roos and a slightly worse throw from Johansson.

"The season has been up and down"

None of the Swedes managed to improve their results from the first round in either the third or fourth round either.

However, the fine first throws were enough to be allowed to throw on.

- The season has been up and down and I didn't get in any longer than in the last round, she tells SVT Sport.

In the final round, Fanny Roos struck with her best throw for the final and reached 18.55.

It was enough for fourth place, 37 centimeters from bronze.

Best placement in an outdoor championship

- There are small margins so I know I can do it if I get a hit.

It's my best ranking in an outdoor championship, so I get to take that with me, she says.

Axelina Johansson never improved on her 18.04 and was seventh.

The final positions were improvements compared to the WC in Eugene where Roos and Johansson finished eleventh and twelfth respectively.

Dutch Jessica Schilder won after throwing 20.24.
