Going for the first EC medal

- About ten days ago, pictures of the European medals came up and then I got a little motivated, that I wanted to add one to the collection.

If I pick a medal now, all I'm missing is the Olympic medal, then the collection is complete.
So it's a big goal and something that motivates.
Big favorite for the gold
Going in as favorite is not something that stresses him out, quite the opposite.
Starting the EC as gold favorite is something he enjoys.
- It's just fun.
My competitors know that it is me they have to beat, and I know that.

The walking competitions are decided on the cobblestones in central Munich.
On Odeonsplatz there are huge stands at the start and finish.
The Germans are a people who love athletics, and Perseus Karlström is looking forward to competing in front of large audiences.
- It's great fun when there are a lot of people cheering you on, it makes it easier, you forget that you're struggling so much.
It raises one's level a couple of notches.
