You can't directly claim that Liverpool got off to a festive start in the league game.

In the premiere, they only got a draw against newcomers Fulham and in Monday night's home game against Crystal Palace, they failed to pick up an expected three points despite a strong game advantage.

Perhaps it would have been easier if new signing Darwin Nunez had not allowed himself to be provoked so much by the visitors' centre-back Joachim Andersen that he finally lost it completely and handed out a Danish scalp in the 57th minute at 0-1.

A move that resulted in a red card at the same time as it greatly impaired Liverpool's chances of winning the match.

They did manage to equalize after a really nice individual performance by Luis Diaz, but they never got any closer than that.
